The Photo

Backlit Flower in Oak Tree Park in Grayslake, Illinois.

Story Behind the Photo

Atleast twice a week we had a practice of taking a walk in the nearby forest preserves or parks. Oak Tree Park was just a mile away from our apartment.

That day I and my wife were on our usual evening walk. I would usually go with my camera just in case if there was any opportunity. On our way back the backlit flowers in the sideways, which I would normally ignore, caught my attention.

I spent several minutes finding a suitable bunch of flowers and then spent several more minutes in making lot of different compositions. This is the second best composition I got. I would keep the best composition for some other day 🙂

I love the simplicity of this composition with fantastic details in the bud and the halo effect. I also love that one leaf on the right bud with slightly curved shape. The slightly visible diagonal shape of the branches in the background adds dynamism to the composition.

Quick Tip

I have almost always realized that “the simplest composition is the best composition”. Don’t forget to take your camera while you are in the field, you never know when the opportunity knocks.
